Yep. Inked it. Ever since Taken, Liam has been playing characters I kinda want to hang with. Maybe we’ll hit up a bar and wear tight pink t-shirts just to see if anyone messes with us. Then, kapow. Liam goes Wolverine and tapes broken bottles to his knuckles and kicks some ass while I finish up my mozzarella sticks and pay the bill. I don’t know – call me if you’re bored Neeson. He isn’t all tough. Schindler’s List alone will tell you that much, and recently, he did this hilarious video with the bearded Englishman, Ricky Gervais – you might remember him for his work on 2008′s Grand Theft Audio IV.
His latest venture, The Grey, crashes his character, Ottway, into the Alaskan wilderness where he and a group of oil-riggers have to battle the weather, injuries, and a pack of wolves. I expect nothing less than awesome. Tapped to lens the feature was Masanobu Takayanagi alongside director Joe Carnahan, while production sound mixer Michael Williamson and boom operator Martin Lacroix provided the audio tracks. The team looks like they put together a fun “in yo face” action-thriller.
Big. Big fan of thy spy genre. Especially when it’s done right. “Tinker Tailor” is adapted from John Le Carre’s 1974 novel and by the looks of it, they’ve put together a film that’s quite exceptional.
Directed by Tomas Alfredson, the cast includes Gary Oldman as George Smiley and Colin Firth from The King’s Speech. Everyone looks to have brought their A game including Alberto Iglesias‘ whose creepy, enigmatic score is phenomenal. Tapped to DP the film was Hoyte Van Hoytema and John Casi provided the production sound mixing with Tim White running second unit. Boom ops Chris Murphy and György Rajna worked the sticks while Howard Bargroff provided the re-recording mix.
Set to hit theaters December 9th of this year, I’m really looking forward to seeing this Cold War thriller. Check out the trailer yourself below.
Sorry I missed Trailer Thursdays. I ate so much from our company BBQ yesterday my belly got too full to type. We’ll call today Future Film Friday for you alliteration fans out there. We’re looking at Margaret starring True Blood’s Anna Paquin and the lovely Matt Damon. Yep. Lovely. From the first line director/writer, Kenneth Lonergan, slaps us with causal sexual cleverness that we’ve slowly grown more accustomed to from our younger generations. The film centers around Lisa, a 17-year-old NY City high-school student who feels certain she somehow played a role in a traffic accident that ended the life of a woman. Distraut, Paquin’s character tries set things right but is met by opposition every step of the way.
Ryszard Lencaewski was tapped for lens duty while Michael Barosky provided the production audio tracks with his boom op Laurel Bridges. The film is set to to hit theaters this year from Fox Searchlight. Check out the trailer below.
It’s our favorite day – Trailer Thursday. This week, Kate Beckinsale is back in her amazingly sexy outfit again (hold for applause). I’m a pretty big fan of this series. Actually, a super-nerdy fan when it comes to the Underworld saga-bliddy-bladda. But up until recently, I was confounded by the fact the series took a turn for the “holy crap this is awful” in Underworld: Rise of the Lycans. No directing by Wiseman. No Beckinsale. A big WTF. I remember Kate saying, “she didn’t want to be typecast in a role.” Well, stop being so kick-ass awesome then. I’m sorry, but you own this role and I didn’t see Click 2 in the works. On the other hand, I get it. Playing Selene could have lost its taste and a break was needed. Thankfully, the bite of my agitation has now calmed and right on cue (3 years later) Underworld: Awakening vampired its way down to Comic Con this year and all is well… hopefully.
Directed by the team of Måns Mårlind & Björn Stein, 12 years later, Selene finds herself held captive in a new world. A world controlled by humans. Escaping from the facility that kept her at rest, she begins to wreak havoc in that ass kicking way we’ve all grown to enjoy. With the helping hand of Cinematographer Scott Kevan, this installment seems a little darker and much scarier. I’m not sure why they chose the 3D route, but I’m pretty excited about this film set to release Januray 20th, 2012. Glad you’re back, Kate.

Directed by Ruben Fleischer, 30 Minutes or Less stars Jesse Eisenberg (Nick) as a small town pizza delivery guy whose predictable life smashes with the ridiculous plan of two amateur criminals Dwanye and Travis played by Danny McBride and Nick Swardson. After kidnapping Nick, they strap a bomb to him and promise if he doesn’t rob a bank for them in a in a few hours, the two masterminds will blow him up. Unsure what to do, Nick turns to an old friend Chet (Aziz Ansari) for help. The two would-be bank robbers must cope with the police, assassins, flamethrowers, and their own turbulent relationship all the while time clicks away on an expiring bomb.
