Directed by Stephen Daldry (The Reader) this film tells a passionate story of a young boy (Thomas Horn) who searches New York City for the lock that matches a mysterious key left behind by his father, who died in the Word Trade Center on September 11th. Starring Tom Hanks and Sandra Bullock, this is another show with production sound mixer Danny Michael at the helm. Lens’d by Chris Menges, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close is scheduled to hit theaters January 20th, 2012.
It’s Thursday, so why not watch a new trailer and give a friend of mine, Gabriel Sunday, a little props for his film coming out September 23rd. Archie’s Final Project is an interesting story about a lifelong movie fanatic and amateur filmmaker who decides to make his own death the subject of his media class final project. Directed and co-written by David Lee Miller, Archie’s Final Project stars Gabriel Sunday who also delivered the film’s editing with Jordan Miller.
Based on the New York best-selling book by author Kathryn Stockett, The Help, directed and written for the screen by Tate Taylor, is a deeply moving story set in the 1960s about three courageous women who strike up an unlikely friendship.
Eugenia (Emma Stone) is a recent college graduate and lands a job writing a column for a local newspaper. Seeking help from Aibleen (Viola Davis) she finds herself embarking on a secret writing project that breaks societal rules and puts her newly found friends at risk. Spurred on by a book editor in New York, her writings transcend the lines that define them, and the realization that sometimes those lines are made to be crossed—even if it means bringing everyone in town face-to-face with the changing times.
Production audio mixer, Willie Burton, CAS, was asked to come in to provide a helping hand during the 12 weeks of filming. Willie was kind of enough to take some time out of his busy schedule to talk with S&P about his experience:
The teaser trailer for John Carter dropped on the old interwebs today. I’m not too sure about the music choice for the piece, but DP Daniel Mindel looks like be brought his A-game by the looks of the 2 min clip. Director Andrew Stanton (WALL-E) who is mostly known for his Oscar winning writing, jumps from animation to this live action piece put out by Walt Disney Pictures.
Author, Stieg Larsson must be smiling. His novel, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, the first in his Millennium Series, is now being touted by Oscar nominated director David Fincher. Set to hit theatres December 21st, the US version of Dragon Tattoo doesn’t look like it’s slacking any bit of excitement from its critically acclaimed Swedish counterpart.
Slated to work with Fincher is DP Jeff Cronenweth of Social Network fame and sound mixer Mark Weingarten who also worked with Cronenweth and Fincher on Social. Boom operator Michael Primmer will be working the sticks for characters Lisbeth (Rooney Mara) and Mikael (Daniel Craig). Can’t wait to see what Fincher has in store for us with his verison.
