Trailer: Underworld: Awakening

It’s our favorite day – Trailer Thursday. This week, Kate Beckinsale is back in her amazingly sexy outfit again (hold for applause). I’m a pretty big fan of this series. Actually, a super-nerdy fan when it comes to the Underworld saga-bliddy-bladda. But up until recently, I was confounded by the fact the series took a turn for the “holy crap this is awful” in Underworld: Rise of the Lycans. No directing by Wiseman. No Beckinsale. A big WTF. I remember Kate saying, “she didn’t want to be typecast in a role.” Well, stop being so kick-ass awesome then. I’m sorry, but you own this role and I didn’t see Click 2 in the works. On the other hand, I get it. Playing Selene could have lost its taste and a break was needed. Thankfully, the bite of my agitation has now calmed and right on cue (3 years later) Underworld: Awakening vampired its way down to Comic Con this year and all is well… hopefully.

Directed by the team of Måns Mårlind & Björn Stein, 12 years later, Selene finds herself held captive in a new world. A world controlled by humans. Escaping from the facility that kept her at rest, she begins to wreak havoc in that ass kicking way we’ve all grown to enjoy. With the helping hand of Cinematographer Scott Kevan, this installment seems a little darker and much scarier. I’m not sure why they chose the 3D route, but I’m pretty excited about this film set to release Januray 20th, 2012. Glad you’re back, Kate.

El Director Sir Martin Scorsese splashes the movie screen with his first 3D flick – Hugo. Scribed by John Logan (Gladiator) producer Bruce Berman has teamed up with Paramount Studios to bring you a story about an orphan boy (Asa Butterfield) living a secret life in the walls of a Paris train station. Longtime friend and DP Robert Richardson was tapped to work with Scorsese again. It’s their last film together since… last year (Shutter Island). John Midgley provided the production sound mix with boom operator, Mike Reardon. This “3D Adventure” is set to hit theaters 11-23-2011.

Trailer: John Carter

The teaser trailer for John Carter dropped on the old interwebs today. I’m not too sure about the music choice for the piece, but DP Daniel Mindel looks like be brought his A-game by the looks of the 2 min clip. Director Andrew Stanton (WALL-E) who is mostly known for his Oscar winning writing, jumps from animation to this live action piece put out by Walt Disney Pictures.
